If you like your ice cream blended with a variety of “mix-ins of nuts, fruits and candy to artistic perfection” plus a good dose of fascist/corporate/franchise fun, then look no further. Put some extra emphasis on the nuts and let us praise the Cold Stone Creamery® and its “entertaining environment”.
In case the whole ice cream being prepared on a frozen granite stone weren't enough (that's where the cold stone comes in, get it?) the folks here decided to add an entertainment factor to keep things interesting. Each time someone puts a tip in the jar, the entire staff breaks out into a clever take on a classic, well, known song. Like Take Me Out for some ICE CREAM. Clearly brilliant, but why, you ask? well, here's the rationale (according to the Cold Stone Creamery Website list of frequently asked questions).

Why do the crew members sing when they receive a tip?
The "Entertainment Factor" is meant to lend a fun, festive atmosphere in our stores and to set us apart from the competition. We seek out crew members who like to perform and we "audition", rather then "interview" them. Many of our crew members enjoy the singing so much that they develop new songs themselves

wow.

I guess it's like they say at the store: Say good-bye to frozen predictability and hello to a whole new way to experience dessert.

I received the following email today. if i didn't already have a plans to go to nyc tomorrow I would be there in a heartbeat...

Dear Friends,

You'll be pleased to know that the famed Food Network (home of Iron Chef and Emeril Live) will be at Finale tonight, filming for their new program, "What's Hot? What's Cool?" They'll be at the Park Plaza location at 6:00 p.m. If you're looking for your 15 minutes of fame, feel free to drop by. FYI, they are looking to interview guests, too.

Hope to see you.

i'm prayerful that candice will finish project. i hope j.f. will pray for her.
i have big big plans....

I'm almost tempted. there is a risk free--money back guarantee...and I wouldn't mind being a little bit taller, and healthier, like the site says. Besides, heightmax is the safest height enhancing supplement out there. this is such a scam. but it's kind of amazing.

this site appeared a while back. _Very_ clever.
i saw this Japanese film that just got released from Kino this weekend -- THE MOST TERRIBLE TIME IN MY LIFE. I really liked it...yakuza action and Taiwanese immigrant drama...topped off with several rousing renditions of "Long de Quan Ren".

check out the subservient chicken. really fucking weird. apparently this has something to do with a Burger King promotion. "Have your chicken any way you want it!" Just don't ask him to clap his hands...

joining the club.
I found this picture waaaaay too entertaining. It's a lego MRI! oh, if only I had the time to embark on such grand endeavors. For now I will stick to putting together the toys inside Kinder Eggs . Just yesterday I made a little figure with a body comprised of what I believe is intended to be kitchen paraphernalia. The the butcher's knife he's clenching offsets his cleverly coordinated ensemble and makes you think he might spring to life AT ANY MOMENT.

I keep thinking The Indian in the Cupboard...somehow the notion of angry looking figurines seem to conjure up visions of young adult fiction from way back.

Luckily, I rescued several Kinder Eggs from our neigbors to the north. I don't know why the US stopped selling them. Lord knows, we sell lots of other potentially dangerous crap. I heard that in Europe Kinder Eggs are marketed as the best chocolate for children, because they have the most milk of aaaany chocolate. Now there is some damn good marketing.
